support PPPoE?
EnterNet has been tested with
BRAS servers from Redback Networks, Nortel/Shasta, Alcatel/Assured Access,
Pulsecom, Ascend, Siemens/Redstone, and Cisco.
3. Does EnterNet
support USB attached Ethernet or DSL adapters?
Yes. As long as the adapters
support the NDIS 3 or later interface specification, EnterNet will work
over these adapters.
4. Does Netwinder
work with PPPoE?
The Netwinder now supports
PPPoE.
5. Do the
Efficient products work with PPPoE?
In order for the SpeedStream
5660 to connect to a PPPoE based service it must have Efficient Networks'
PPPoE code installed.The Efficient 5250 is an SDSL Ethernet Bridge,

6. Do the
Netgear RT311 and RT314 support PPPoE?
The RT311 has firmware upgrade
to support built in PPPoE. See our How To here.
We have found that Netgear
is now shipping the router with full PPPoE support. The new firmware
is part of the standard configuration now. All you should have to do
is plug in your account info.Remove all PPPoE software, changed all
your computers to DHCP, reboot.Load your browser and surf away.
7. Does the
UGate-300 support PPPoE?
The UGate-3000 now has a firmware
upgrade to support built in PPPoE. Ours is connected and running. See

The CPE's (Customer Premise
Equipment) typically only operate as bridges when PPPoE is running.
There are a couple of vendors that recently came out with PPPoE in the
CPE, however, traditionally the model has been that PPPoE runs from
the client PC to the SMS (Subscriber Management System) and anything
in the middle is just a bridge. However, vendors who embed a PPPoE client
defeat one of the main reasons to use PPPoE. That is, to identify and
authenticate actual users.
11. Does
the Netsys router support PPPoE?
The Netsys Cable/ADSL router
now has PPPoE firmware available.
It has come to my attention
that most of the new
Westell DSL modems have built in PPPoE support.
The Zyxel Presige 642ME and 642R will do PPPoE internally.
3COM 812 and the Speedstream 5660 also.
CopperJet modems.
If you don't have that option, you must update your firmware.
23. What
is Smoothwall and does it have built in PPPoE?
SmoothWall is a secure operating
system that converts a redundant PC / workstation / fileserver / rackmount

24. What
routers support PPPoE:3com (The proprietary version of PPPoE created by
3Com)?
From what we know these routers
have firmware to support this version of PPPoE:
Linksys beta firmware v1.38.4c
Netgear firmware v3.24 and up on models RT311, RT314, RP114, RO318
ZyXEL firmware v3.21
SMC firmware v1.92
ZyXEL firmware v3.21 and up on models P310, P314, and ZyWALL-10.
25. I have
a USB DSL modem can I still use a router?
You can now. This
router is built for USB DSL modems. We where just informed that
it only supports the Alcatel SpeedTouch USB. The company is thinking
about adding more DSL modems to it's supported list. You can now purchase
this router in the US here.
26. How
do I configure my Mac with an Apple Airport card for use with the ISB
WaveBase?
OS 9 with Airport card
1) Go to Your Apple Menu
2) Click on "Airport"
3) Click on the drop down menu beside "Choose Network" ->
Select "My Network"
4) Click "File" menu -> Select "Quit"
5) Go to your Apple Menu -> "Control Panel" -> Click
"TCP/IP"
6) Click "Connect Via" drop down menu -> Click Airport"
7) Click "Configure" drop down menu -> Click "Using
DHCP Server"
8) Close that window -> Click "Save"
9) Surf Away! OS X & 10.1
with Airport card
1) Boot in OS X or 10.1
2) Open "System Preferences" from your Dock
3) Double click "Network:
4) Select "airport" in the "Show" drop down menu
5) In the "TCP/IP" tab click the drop down menu for "Configure"
-> Choose "DHCP"
6) Click on "Airport" tab -> select "My Network"
in the "Preferred Network" drop down menu
7) Click "Apply Now"
8) Close "System Preferences"

27. How
do I raise the MTU in Netgear routers?
Please note: You are actually
changing the MSS which will internet change the MTU, MTU = MSS + 40
Try this:
1) Go to Start Menu -> Run -> type "telnet 192.168.0.1"
-> click OK
2) Enter your password... (the default is 1234).
3) In the menu type "24" click Enter then "8" and
click Enter
4) In the command line interface type "ip adjmss xxxx"
where xxxx is the MSS value" -> Click Enter
5) Type "Exit" -> Click Enter
6) Log in to your router, disconnect your connection then have your
router reconnect. This setting should
stay until you at least reboot your router
28. How do I adjust
the MTU in a Linksys router?
Log in to your router
from you web browser, click on Advanced then click on filters.
If you go to keyword: Home Network, you
will see that AOL has approved 2 router manufacturers. You can buy them
directly from AOL, but these products are also sold in some stores.
Update: Now you can use any regular router
that supports PPPoE. Many are listed on this page for your information.
