1. What is Tango?

Tango Manager is the replacement for EnterNet created by Efficient Networks.
Tango consists of four parts:
Tango Qualifier - Qualifies a PC before broadband has been ordered.
Tango Installer - Steps a customer through cabling to connection to start their broadband service.
Tango Access - The PPPoE connectivity client (a stripped version of EnterNet)
Tango Support - The diagnostics and self help tool to help support and trouble shoot network connectivity issues.Tango Manager is Tango Access and Tango Support as one product for broadband connections.

2. What is the difference between EnterNet and Tango Access?

Tango Access has changed from EnterNet as it no longer installs a virtual adapter and is now like all PPPoE clients and uses Windows dial-up networking to make its connection.

3. What will happen to EnterNet?

EnterNet V1.5c is now the last version of EnterNet it will be phased out completely over the next 18 months or so being replaced by Tango Manager.

4. How do you install Tango Manager (Tango Access)?

1) Double click on "Set-up.exe"
2) Click "Next"
3) Click "Yes" - License Agreement window
4) Click "Next" - Choose Destination…" window
5) Click "Finish"
6) PC Reboots
7) Double click "Tango Manager" icon on your desktop
8) Click on "Access" - Tango Manager window
9) Double click on "Create a New Profile" - Access window
10) Enter a connection name - Profile Name window -> Click "Next"
11) Enter your userid as provided by your ISP.

Note: you may need to include your ISP's domain as part of your userid. Example: For Verizon customers it would be userid@verizon.net.

12) Enter your password as provided by your ISP, enter it a second time to confirm -> Click "Next"
13) Click "Next" Servers window
14) Click "Finish" Finish Connection window
15) Double click the new profile you just created - Access window
16) Surf away!

5. What features does Tango have?

6. How do I change settings?

1) Double click "Tango Manager" icon on your desktop
2) Click on "Access"


3) Click on the profile you want to change
4) Click on "Change setting of this profile"

" Select Ethernet adapter to connect via
" Select Server if applicable
" Select Service if applicable


Setting tab - Used to launch browser with a specific URL on connect and edit a sound on connect
7. Can you explain the Support features? 1) Double click "Tango Manager" icon on your desktop

Note: If you do not have a supported modem you see the warning pictured above.

Connectivity window - Only works if you have a supported modem


System window - In the drop down menu of the "TCP/IP Information tab you can select your Ethernet card and see what IP it has as well as Subnet and Mac address.
Router Table tab - lists Network address, Netmask, Gateway Address.
System Information tab - Lists OS, build, system, Processor (Couldn't recognize my processor, Pentium 4), CPU Speed, CD ROM, USB Ports, Ethernet adapter information etc.

Monitor Window - If you click Add you can enter a URL for the test either Ping, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, NNTP, or HTTP.
It will then ping your DNS server and gateway and then the URL. It will pop up a balloon if their was a problem with the test.


Remote Management in Monitor Window - Allows you to enable SNMP to your supported modem. All security options have been taken in to account i.e.: specify Read and Write, IP filtering, authentication etc.

Test and Repair Window - When test is successful
"PING -> www.yahoo.com. 100% Success. Response time 22ms
DNS ----> www.yahoo.com - Success. Resolves to 64.58.76.227
DNS ----> www.google.com - Success. Resolves to 216.239.51.100"
In Save and Restore Network Settings you have the option to take a snapshot of your e-mail, browser and network settings and you can then restore those settings at a later date if needed.

Reporting window - Allows you to create a report of your connection details and either save as a file, Print, e-mail to your ISP, or upload to your ISP's FTP server.

8. When I launch Tango I get a message that no supporting modem could be found.

Tango has the ability to perform diagnostics on your modem. At this moment it comes with support for Efficient Networks modems. Each modem providers needs to create a program to support Tango. It creates no problems but is an annoyance.

9. How do I get Tango to launch my browser after I connect?

1) Double click "Tango Manager" icon on your desktop
2) Click on "Access"


3) Click on the profile you want to change
4) Click on "Change setting of this profile"


5) Click on the setting tab.
6) Enter the website address you want to go to after you connect.
7) Click "OK"

10. How do I get Tango to auto connect?

Windows 95 98
Under Dial-Up Networking > Connections > Settings.
Make sure "Prompt for information before dialing" is not checked off.

Windows ME
1) Open your Control Panel
2) Double click "Dial-up Networking"
3) Right click the dial-up icon for your Tango connection
4) Click the "Security" tab -> Check off "Connect automatically" (Make sure your userid and Password are listed there. -> Click "OK"

Windows 2000
In your Dial-Up networking properties, uncheck "prompt for username/password".

Windows XP
1) Go to "Start" -> "Control Panel"
2) Click on "Network & Internet Connections"
3) Click on "Network Connections"
4) Right click on the Dial-up connection that matches the name of your profile in Tango -> Choose Properties
5) Click "Options" tab -> Uncheck "Prompt for name and password"
6) Click "OK"

11. How do I get Tango to connect on Windows boot?

1) In Control Panel open "Network Connections"
2) Right click on your dial-up connection icon and select "Properties"
3) Uncheck "Prompt for name and password..."
4) Click "OK"
5) Open your "C:/Documents and settings" folder
6) Open the "All Users" folder
7) Open the "Start Menu" folder
8) Open the "Programs" folder
9) Go to your Programs Folder -> Startup
9) Copy a short-cut of your Broadband Connection, from the Network Connections folder in to the "Startup" folder

If that does not work for you, try this:

Create a shortcut for your Dial-up, place it on your desktop
Go to Start Menu -> "Programs" -> "System Tools" -> "Scheduled Tasks"
Double click "Add Scheduled Task"
Click "Next"
Click "Browse" -> browse to the shortcut you had placed on your desktop -> Select it -> Click "Open"
Click "When my computer starts"
Click "Next"
Enter the Username and password for the administrator on your PC, if you do not use passwords to log in, leave it blank -> Click "Next"
Click "Finish"

Windows 2000
1. Place a short cut to the dial-up connection for Tango ( Right click My Network Places and choose Properties - it will match the profile name from Tango) in your startup folder.
2. In your Dial-Up networking properties, uncheck "prompt for username/password".

Windows ME
1) Open your Control Panel
2) Double click "Dial-up Networking"
3) Right click the dial-up icon for your Tango connection
4) Click the "Security" tab -> Check off "Connect automatically" (Make sure your userid and Password are listed there. -> Click "OK"

Windows 95 98

12. How do I adjust my MTU in Tango?

There is an option in your preferences tab Tango Manager versions 1.2 and up that allows you to adjust the MTU size.
